The Show, The Book, The Biz, The Boy: An Update
Recently it feels like nothing new and interesting is happening because all the things that were new and interesting a few weeks ago are still lingering. So I thought I’d take a moment to update you all on all the exciting things in my life that wait in limbo.
The Book
“The Crusade Against Sex: A Pleasure Manifesto” just underwent Round 1 of edits. I’m finding this process INCREDIBLY challenging. In the 3 years it took me to write the book I’ve went back and reread it a million times. I practically have the thing memorized. I don’t know where I can change/add/insert things that need be because I’m so used to it how it is.
There is an official release date: November 6!
I’m having a BIG release party at Feminique starting at 3pm. November 6 also happens to be National Orgasm Day (not a coincidence, or course, that my book would be released on National Orgasm Day). There will be food, drinks, product sales, a brief book reading by moi, and a book signing. It’s a Sunday. Be there!
For now, you can preorder your copy at a $2 discount. So far I’ve only sold 5 copies :( But then I figure it’s impressive that 5 people bought something that doesn’t exist yet. Buy your copy here! My goal is to sell 200 before the official release date!
The Show
My proposed reality show passed another level of people who would need to sign off on the project. Everyone’s on board with the project and “the talent” (that would be me!) The latest news is the producers are brainstorming ways to deliver the show while not having advertisers be panicked by the “adult content” and pulling their $$$.
The Biz
As per usual in my sexoholic mode, there are always a million business plans coming and going in my mind. Here’s an update on a few I’ve mentioned that I’m working on:
- Filming my parties. So far, I’ve had Fellatio 101, Foreplay 101, and Kama Sutra Positions 101 professionally filmed. The last one is in production, but the first two are completed and can be viewed here

I still need some volunteers to be the participants for the filming of Sex Trivia 101, Orgasm 101, Sex Shop 101, Pole Dancing 101, Sex Toys 101, and Kink 101. Any takers?
- History of the Vibrator college tour. It was supposed to start today… that’s not happening. I’m learning that unless you’re famous, colleges tell you when they want you to come speak, not the other way around.
- I finally (sorta) settled my Jill McDevitt/Feminique identity crisis and decided the biz website reflect that the Feminique retail store is only one small part of my business (which also includes the book, the parties, workshops, etc). So I changed www.feminiqueboutique.com to www.thesexologist.org. In the process, 5,000 emails from my feminiqueboutique.com account disappeared. 4 years of professional contacts are now gone. I spent 5 hours figuring out how to do blah blah blah with the server, and the domain name, and the domain host, and a bunch of technical stuff I won’t bore you with. I could not believe I was able to do since no one ever taught me how to do it. I realized I’m such a control freak! I won’t let anyone help me! I have to run this business ENTIRELY on my own, including complicated website stuff most people pay someone else to do for them. Long story short, email me at jill@thesexologist.org from now on!
The Boy
Tyler and I have COMPLETELY different schedules which means this has been a sexless relationship for far longer than I’m comfortable with. Usually he’s the one who falls asleep early and I’m pissed, but during the long Labor Day weekend I’ve been the one sleeping. I have seasonal allergies, I rub my eyelids raw, I give up and take Benadryl then BOOM, pass out. This is becoming a big problem for me…
