I look very stereotypically feminine right now because I was on TV this morning and had my hair and make up professionally done. So I’m rocking a dress, heals, jewelry, bright eye make up, long blonde ringlets- the works. I stopped at the supermarket on my way home from the filming, and this 3 year old girl in a shopping cart pointed at me and said “Dad, look, there’s a princess!” The dad laughed, embarrassed. I smiled and said, “I’m a doctor princess. Princesses can be beautiful AND smart”. That’s the best I could come up with in the state of surprise I was in, but I’m happy I was able to use a teachable moment to highlight women are more than looks, without beauty-shaming. In other news, I want someone to do my hair and makeup professionally every morning, please and thank-you.
