My Book Celebration :)

So this past Sunday, November 6, 2011 was a big deal for me. Not just because it was National Orgasm Day, but because I got to check a BIG item off my bucket list- publish my memoir!
It took me 3 ½ years to write the book, but really I’ve wanted to be published my entire life- even as a young child. So it was literally a dream come true for me, and after I got in bed exhausted after an unbelievable book release party, Tyler (can I give up the “Tyler” gig now? If you were at the book release party you met him and now know Tyler is a pseudonym and you know what his real name is…), anyway, “Tyler” said “Today could not have been more perfect” and it’s so true. The whole event went down without a hitch!
120 people showed up to Feminique to help me celebrate! WOW! 120 people!!!!! There was food and merriment, sales, a book reading, and a signing. My ENTIRE family was there- grandparents, parents and stepparents, siblings and stepsiblings, and an aunt, and clients and friends from all stages of life- my old freshman year college roommate, a friend from 6th grade that I haven’t seen since middle school, the waitress who served me when I used to play weekly pub quiz, students from my class that semester I was a student teacher, former party hostesses, Tyler’s family (mom, dad, grandmom), fellow sexologists, fellow sexuality doctoral students, loyal regular clients, people I’ve never met but read my blog- even Bren Kinsey Draper, Alfred Kinsey’s granddaughter who wrote the review of my book, drove up from Maryland to surprise me at the launch party!
I could not believe it! I was SO overwhelmed that I can’t even describe it. I just feel so unbelievably honored that so many people would take the time out of their Sunday to celebrate this with me. One client brought me flowers. Another is donating a copy of my book to the Kinsey Library. I feel like I could cry- just so honored and humbled.
Now that the book is officially out, next is the even harder part- promoting it. So now I’ll be contacting book stores to set up signings, and trying to get on The Daily Show and Tyra and other national and regional shows for interviews, and pushing the book in circles outside of Feminique world. I REALLY need a publicist… but can’t afford one so I’m on my own.
You can help me out! If you’ve read it and enjoyed it, write a review of my book on Amazon (more of a national audience) and if you have an extra spare minute, also post the review on my site. A lifetime of thank yous for being a part of this very special moment with me.
Here’s where you can write the review on Amazon (where you can also now purchase the Kindle edition!)
